Copycat PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps

This is the closest recipe to PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps that we have found.  We follow the recipe exactly.  They are just as good the next day if you cannot eat them all in one sitting.  The recipe makes enough to easily feed four people.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken (we buy ours from Harmons)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Tamari (low sodium soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha
  • 1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • 1 head butter lettuce

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to break it up into small bits as it cooks.
  2. Push the meat to the edge of the pan and stir in garlic and onion and cook until onions have become translucent – about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add the hoisin sauce, Tamari, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, ginger paste, and Sriracha, stir in to combine well.
  4. Add the water chestnuts and green onions and cook until tender, about 1to 2 minutes; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.  Our favorite is a mixture of chili paste and rice wine vinegar.  You could also use teriyaki sauce.

The cheapest store to purchase these ingredients, minus the ground chicken would be your local Oriental store.  Our favorite store in Utah is the Ocean Mart in Sandy.
