Desert Tortoise

Check out what we discovered during a hike on Owen’s Loop Trail near St. George.  This guy was right on the hiking path and was not about to move aside for us.

David's Friend, Tony Hawk

This is a golfing buddy of mine that I met at Southgate Golf Course in St. George. He (or she) hangs out in the shade of a pine tree behind the 6th green to look for lunch. I see Tony (notice that’s somewhat gender neutral) nearly every time I play golf at Southgate. Tony scared the crap out of me the first time we met, I didn’t see him and I walked by his tree and he took flight right over my head. It was really cool…in hindsight.

Both of David's Babies

Okay, I’ve been scheming for quite a while how I can get pictures of Robin and the M5 on the website. Robin doesn’t like her photo taken, and I had no good reason to slap a photo of my car on the site. Today, wife, car and I all happened to be visiting a ghost town on the way to Zion National Park, and voila! Although, I was hoping for something a little more like Whitesnake and Tawny Kitaen, so I’ll keep working on it.

Joshua Tree in Bloom, Sort Of

Robin and I took a drive last week to the Joshua Tree Scenic Backway to check out blooming Joshua Trees about 20 miles from our home. We were a week or two late for prime viewing, but I think that Bono and The Edge would still be proud of our effort.

Snow Day in Ivins

It snowed last night for only the second time in the seven years that we’ve had a home in the St. George area. Boston loves snow, his little brother, not so much.

Yep, Another Roadrunner

Sorry, I couldn’t resist adding this one, I think that it’s the best one I’ve taken so far. The colors around his eyes are awesome, I think.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Dave mentioned in his post regarding the stress filled nature of day to day life in Ivins, that one of his hobbies is smoking meat. A couple of baby back racks for your viewing pleasure.

Backyard Visitor

We have seen this little guy, or a guy that looks just like him, on our backyard wall several times. Roadrunners are fairly common around here, but they don’t stay still for long so I was lucky to get this shot.

As Long as We're on the Bird Theme

Robin installed and maintains a hummingbird feeder in our backyard, every morning we get a constant flow of these little guys.

Cactus Flowers in the Mountains

Dave went for a drive in the mountains to scope out a cave and on the way there were blooming cactus flowers everywhere. The cave kind of sucked, but the scenery on the way was awesome.

Entrance to the Cave

Yeah, this is the entrance to the cave and there was no way in hell I was going in there without a wing-man, or at least a lookout.
