Snowbound in Ivins

Okay, the title of this post is a bit of an exaggeration, but the weather the past week has been pretty damn inconvenient. The bright side, or not, depending on your enjoyment level of reading the musings that I publish here, is that I’ve had much extra time (executive time) to document our existence in this little corner of paradise.

It snowed again last night! That’s essentially two and a half times (one storm was kind of weak) in the space of five days. This last one was a doozy, by Southern Utah standards, about four inches on the lawn in our backyard. See for yourself.

I’m just gonna go with ‘this never happens here,’ or almost never. Pretty bad timing for the 5,000 or so youth soccer and baseball teams that invaded St. George for Presidents Day weekend for tournaments. Oh well, been there and done that as both a player and a coach.

I have a tee time tomorrow, and despite what you see in the picture above, there is a decent chance that I get to play golf. I play every Tuesday with three gentlemen who for whatever reason allowed me to join their group about six months ago. We rotate through the St. George courses; Sunbrook, Southgate, Dixie Red Hills and St. George Golf Club (all are good courses, but I listed them in order of preference), and if the course that we’re scheduled for is playable we almost always tee it up. We definitely couldn’t have played at Entrada today, cuz for one we’re not members, and for two, the ninth hole looked like this.

So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the sun stays out today and that nothing winter-like occurs overnight. The forecast is for sunny skies tomorrow and god willing and the crick don’t rise (literally, cuz ‘the crick’ goes right through the golf course), I’ll be teeing it up at Sunbrook with Frank, Robert and Lynn.
